I’m Alex, an engagement and proposal photographer based in Buckinghamshire. I photograph relaxed couple sessions and surprise proposals, with gentle guidance when you need it and space to enjoy the moment.

A session just for the two of you, without the timetable of a wedding day. We can wander somewhere meaningful, find some lovely light and make photographs that feel like you.
An engagement shoot is also a lovely way to get comfortable in front of a camera before the wedding. You can use your photographs for save-the-dates, your wedding website or prints for your home.

I’m based in Buckinghamshire and cover Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Surrey, Hampshire, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire. I’m also happy to discuss sessions elsewhere in the UK or abroad.
Your location can be personal rather than elaborate: the place you had an early date, a riverside walk you love, a woodland path or a garden with space to slow down. A quieter setting often makes it easier to relax together.
For a surprise proposal, we’ll think about sightlines, foot traffic and somewhere discreet for me to wait. If your chosen setting is privately owned, we’ll need to establish any permission or photography fees before finalising the plan.

If you would like to hear the moment again as well as see it, I also offer engagement and proposal films. A short film can bring together the reactions, movement and atmosphere in a different way to photographs.
The approach stays natural, with real interactions rather than scripted scenes. Ask about a film on its own or photography and video together, and I’ll explain the coverage and setup that suit your plans.

It’s completely normal to feel a little awkward at first. I’ll give you simple direction when it helps, then leave room for conversation, movement and the way you naturally are together.
Wear something comfortable that feels like you and works for the setting. Leave a little breathing room in your plans so we can take our time. The aim is a set of photographs that feels personal, not a list of poses to get through.

What is the difference between an engagement shoot and proposal photography?
An engagement shoot is a planned session you both know about. Proposal photography captures the question and reaction as a surprise, followed by some portraits together. Both can be relaxed and personal, but a proposal needs a little more private planning beforehand.
How much does an engagement photoshoot cost?
Prices start at £350. Your quote depends on the plans, location and whether you want photography, a film or both. I’ll confirm the session length, deliverables and any additional costs before you book.
Can you photograph a proposal without my partner knowing?
Yes. We’ll discuss the location, my position, how I’ll recognise you and a discreet way to communicate. Tell me which contact details are safe to use so messages don’t spoil the surprise.
Where should we have our engagement shoot?
Choose somewhere you enjoy spending time or somewhere with a personal connection. We can discuss the light, access and how busy it might be. I’m based in Buckinghamshire and travel across the surrounding counties and further afield.
What happens if it rains?
We’ll discuss a backup plan while arranging the session. That might mean a sheltered option or a change to the timing, subject to availability. For a proposal, it helps to have an alternative that still makes sense to your partner.
What should we wear for engagement photos?
Wear clothes you feel good in and can move comfortably in. Think about the season and footwear for the location. You do not need matching outfits or anything formal unless that is how you would like to be photographed.
Do we need to be confident in front of a camera?
No. I’ll help you settle in with gentle direction, walking and conversation. You can focus on one another rather than trying to perform for the camera.
Can we have photography and a proposal video?
Yes, I offer photography, engagement films and proposal video options. We’ll agree the best setup and exactly what is included in your quote.
How many photographs will we receive and when?
You’ll receive a carefully edited gallery. The number of images and delivery timeframe are confirmed with your booking, based on the coverage you choose.
Do we have to book you for our wedding too?
No. Engagement shoots and proposal coverage can be booked as standalone services. If you later want to discuss wedding photography or videography, I’m happy to help with that separately.
